On September 1, 2008 Google launched its open source web browser Google Chrome because at Google, they believed they “can add value for users and, at the same time, help drive innovation on the web”.
On July 7, 2009 less than a year after, Google announced their new project – the Google Chrome Operating System – which according to its top officials, is just a “natural extension” of Google Chrome browser. Considering that most existing browsers are designed to run on operating systems which were created before the web existed, the Google Chrome OS is planned to offer in three words – speed, simplicity and security. Starting your PC and getting your way through the web in a matter of seconds, while minimizing interaction with viruses, malware and security updates, is all part of the project.
In the light to answer users’ questions and messages in need of “better computers”, the Google Chrome OS is meant to be an open source, operating system initially targeted at netbooks (what is a netbook?). According to their program, the Google Chrome OS will be available during the second semester of 2010.
